Many android users who have downloaded and installed apks from sources other than Google Play Store experience the error 403 when they try to update or re-install that app from the Google Play Store. Again, like for most Google error codes RPC:S-5:AEC-0, error 927 and error 923, there is no one sure shot solution to the google play error 403. This error seems to affect paid or purchased apps. I have compiled a list of solutions that will help you fix the annoying error 403.

Methods to fix “Google play error 403”
Method 1: The most common fix for most Android market or Google Play related errors.
- Go to system settings» Accounts»Google»remove your Gmail account
- Now from settings»Apps»All> Force stop, Clear data and cache for Google Play Store, Google Service Framework and Download Manager (like in method 1)
- Now again go to settings» Accounts»Google»Add your gmail account
- Restart your android and then accept all the Google terms and setup Google settings
- Rerun Google Play Store and update or install your app.
Method 2: Clearing Proxy:
- Go to settings»Wireless and Networks»More»Mobile Networks
- APN (Access Point Name)»MOWAP»Edit
- Select clear Proxy option
- Try to re-run the installation in Google Play Store
Method 3: Router Proxy Settings:
- Open your router configuration or settings panel (example- typing 192.168.1.1 on the browser brings up the router settings on my TP-Link router)
- Now find your filter settings»Uncheck Proxy
- If that didn’t work also uncheck Cookies box from the filter settings
- Now install your app from Google Play
Method 4: Alternative Google account
- Create another Google account if you currently have only one account
- Open Google Play Store»Press Menu button»Accounts»select the alternative Gmail account
- Now try installing the app
Method 5: Browser Fix: I found this solution on Phonebuff.com.
- Go to play.google.com on your Computer’s web browser (preferably Google Chrome).
- Sign into your Google account (by hitting the sign-in button at the top right).
- Search for the app you wish to purchase and download.
- Open the app’s page up by clicking the title link.
- On the “install” or “purchase” button, right click and press “inspect element.”
- Above the row that will be highlighted, you’ll see several lines of code. Locate the “data-ispurchased=”true” code (near the bottom of the paragraph).
- Double click on the “true” in data-is purchased=”true” and change it to “false” then press enter on your keyboard.
- Now click on “installed” or “purchased” to buy the app as you normally would
These methods might seem like a lot of work but hopefully one of these methods will solve the 403 error for your Android.

In the window wich appears select either power of or reboot…
Then confirm your choice…

There is one more solution I found!!
- Go to settings»Wireless and Networks»More»Mobile Networks
- APN (Access Point Name)»Idea/Airtel … (Depends on your service provider»
- There will be 3 to 4 options to select.
- If Idea Internet is selected » Change it to Idea GPRS/WAP
- You can select the same for other service providers also.
Now try downloading.. Jakaas it works .. Happy downloading

I changed it from Aircel pocket internet to Aircel GPRS in APN(Access Point Name) and it worked.

This worked for me, and also I forgot that I had two accounts, so if your in the same situation as me remember to check this: -Go to system settings» Accounts»Google»remove your Gmail account -Now from settings»Apps»All> Force stop, Clear data and cache for Google Play Store, Google Service Framework and Download Manager -Now again go to settings» Accounts»Google»Add your gmail account -Restart your android and then accept all the Google terms and setup Google settings -Rerun Google Play Store and update or install your app.
For Dutch people , go to network and then Apn then select your provider or internet port. Then You see name , proxy and a lot of another things go to verification type and set it on PAP. Its Works for me. Enjoy

Another method I found that works goes as follows. I was having a 403 error for just a couple of free apps like Gas Buddy and Android Record My Call. I tried everything but this actually worked. Uninstall the app and then you’ll be able to install it from the Play Store. If your rooted and use Titanium Backup, do a “verify, backup, uninstall” and after you’ve reinstalled it from the Play Store, go back into Titanium Backup and restore just the data for those apps. That way you won’t have to reconfigure the app settings or account info.
YES!!! I tried all kinds of things suggested on other websites but nothing worked. Method 1 here worked perfectly. I had two google accounts connected and removed both using exact instructions given. Rebooted, ran up Play store, accepted the Terms etc. and success, downloads run without error! Thanks a million.
I am having the same problem but I am also afraid to apply the 1st method (already tried others and did not help). When I remove my Google accounts (I have 2) and clear the data, will this now swipe my email accounts etc as well? And also the apps that I have already downloaded and installed? Does this mean I will have to re-install all? Re-sync my google accounts and so on? Aw.. there must be another way that works for me. =(

Hi, I’ve already tried method 1 and method 4 to no avail. Method 5 seems to no longer be correct. Method 3 doesn’t seem to correspond to Netgear Smart Wizard Router Config Panel (- tried to change DNS settings and it stopped the internet). Method 2 won’t work as I am using a tablet with no mobile carrier (Wi-Fi only) which is a shame as this seems to be the method that is working for most people. I’ve also followed all the steps on support.google.com I’m really at a loss now, it’s driving me nuts! Any help greatly appreciated.
