A slew of updates are coming to Apple’s iWork platform, with the bulk of the new features going to the Keynote, Pages, and Numbers apps.
In Apple’s announcement, the company detailed some of the new features, which include adding a live camera view to presentations and pivot tables for better data analytics.
New to Keynotes, the live camera feed feature uses the front-facing camera on iPhones, iPads, and Macs for more engaging presentations. The feed appears alongside the content in a slide, and can be resized or stylized with masks, frames, and drop shadows.
Mac users can connect multiple cameras to their presentation and even show the screen of a connected iPhone or iPad. Multiple people also can join a presentation from their Apple device, thanks to the new multi-presenter option.
Apple has made documents easier to read on Pages, too. In the update, the app’s Screen View now displays documents in a single-column continuous flow. Text has been enlarged for better readability, with photos and drawings now fitting the display. Screen View can be turned off at any time so someone can see the document’s layout before publishing.
The Numbers app has been given pivot tables, allowing users to quickly summarize and rearrange data to identify patterns and trends. Users can create these tables by selecting the data and choosing how to group it via display options in the sidebar. Pivot tables even can be imported/exported to and from Microsoft Excel.
The iWork update is currently rolling out to iOS 15, iPadOS 15, and macOS Monterey devices. However, there’s no word on whether these features also will come to older devices or OS versions.
