We just went from 2-in-1 to 4-in-1 devices, at CES 2014 ASUS is unveiling the new world’s first Windows hybrid tablet and laptop that is also capable of transforming itself into an Android tablet and laptop. The new Dual OS device features a 13.3-inch display and can quickly move from Windows to Android and vice versa in less than four seconds thanks to an undisclosed ASUS proprietary technology.

The Transformer Book Duet runs an Intel Haswell processor, configurable up to a Core i7 CPU, and it also features solid-state drive storage starting at 64GB. Consumers will be able to get this 4-in-1 device beyond the terabyte, but of course it won’t come cheap and the additional storage will be included within the keyboard dock.

The not so good news is that the new ASUS device only features a 1920 x 1080 pixels screen resolution, which seeing that today many PC makers are building devices with higher resolution and even 4K, like in the case of Toshiba, a 1080p resolution seems a bit low-res. There is a cheaper version, but the screen resolution is even worse at 1366 x 768 pixels. Although it seems built with solid quality, the Duet is heavy, somewhat thick for an Ultrabook, and it only features a front-facing camera, which it’s not ideal when using the device as a tablet.

The ASUS Transformer Book Duet will be available in the U.S. at the end of March 2014 and, as mentioned before, pricing starts at $599.
